About the Artist
Hello! My name is Mukisa (pronounced moo-kee-suh). My creative work centers on celebrating black identity, with a strong focus on representing black women and sharing the stories of African immigrants and first-generation Africans in the U.S. Through photography, painting, and drawing, I aim to create work that uplifts, empowers, and reflects the richness of our lived experiences.
I’m currently pursuing a Fine Arts degree at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), with minors in Entrepreneurship and Public Relations. My goal is to build a sustainable career as a full-time photographer, painter, and art director—bringing authentic, powerful visuals to life.
